Well the chapter is PRM, so we are trying not to spoil things for the folks who may not have PRM.

Yes we are. That way they donate to get the PRM.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 6, The

Not that this is important, but I think it's amusing:

As of the end of book 6, David's list of post-nominal letters reads as follows:

David Stroud, RIP, RP, C1C3, W5, CP4, WM2, PRG1, RCA4, RPG2

Translation:
RIP: Rimohr Internship Program
RP: Royal Paladin
C1C3: 1 Crescent, 3 Chevrons
W5: Wizard, Level 5 (A "wizard" (as opposed to a "conjurer" or "wizard adept"...))
CP4: Certified Proraziveur, Level 4
WM2: Weapons Master - 2 weapons
PRG1: Peg Riders Guild, 1st Class
RCA4: Royal Conjuring Association, Level 4
RPG2: Royal Potions Guild, 2nd Class

(For those who will wish to know why these things are in this particular order:

1. International accreditation
2. Royal accolades/recognition
3. Licenses
4. Guild affiliations (listed with highest-ranking guild membership first)

It is, in essence, from most-unlikely to least-unlikely.  There are a smaller percentage of people in the world who are Rimohrs, for instance, than there are in Callamandia who have received royal accolades.  And being a member of a guild is something that almost everyone does at some point.

As I said, not that it matters.  But I'll bet someone reading this was wondering about David's "Alphabet Soup".
3dwink

Knowing David, he would probably shorten this to David Stroud, RIP, W5, PRG1.  The RIP because it's his job, the W5 because it's the only part of his initialing that relates to Woodward, and PRG1 because it is "his" guild.

Eric Storm

PS:  Since I can already hear someone asking the question, "What happens if you have chevrons but no crescents, or vice versa?", then that would look like this:  CC2 - No crescents, 2 chevrons (David's old ranking).  Or C1C - 1 crescent, no chevrons.  This would be extremely rare.  It is very hard to do personal service to the king without helping the kingdom.  I suppose it has happened, if someone were to help the king with a purely personal matter... but then it seems like it's not the kind of thing that crescents ought to be given for.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 6, The

So, when is RCA4 going to RCA5 since the only reason he isn't level 5 is there wasn't a level 5 on the certification team?  Might be a nice part of a chapter to see him get the recognition he deserves...

Reading ahead would be a neat trick seeing as how Year 7 Chapter 1 isn't even finished. I would like to have that trick. 3dangel

I suppose his concubines and assorted mistresses deserve Crescents without Chevrons.  The wife is giving him credibility, so she is helping the Kingdom too.  ;P

BTW, the site is a LOT faster on my end now.  This upgrade is something GD should have handled for you a LOOOOOOONG time ago.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 6, The

The king is unlikely to have concubines.  A mistress, perhaps, but this is a parliamentary monarchy... He does have people to answer to, in a way.

And yes, the new servers are faster.  This is not something they handled "for me", period.  I had to manually move the site from one server to the other.  But I got a good deal, since they were running a sale.  54% off on 3 years of hosting, plus a refund of what I'd already paid in for the time I'll have left on the old hosting when I cancel it.

Plus, hey, they might actually have PHP version 7 RSN.  Woohoo!

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 6, The

My point was more that THEY should have done it a LOOOOOOONG time ago, not YOU.  I am of the opinion that it would have been goood customer service.  Should you automatically go to their fastest, best servers?  Probably not, but as they added updated and after servers, you pull the older sites along with you.  I would probably run 3 types of servers: Best, Older, Awaiting Replacement.  The rotation should be obvious and would allow them a tiered service plan and other options that are good on both the Provider and the Customer while ensuring that no one gets left too far behind.  That's really off topic for this thread, but just my 4/25 of a bit.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 6, The

They have a tiered system, based on the resources you need to use.  The plan I was on is no longer even offered, except to those of us who were already on it, as the server the plan was using is about to be retired.

To understand this a little better, realize that they offer a "migration team" that will move your site from one server to the other for you.  That service costs I think she said $80.  Customer service is, as usual, outweighed by profit.

I should point out, also, that there is a significant administrative difference between the two accounts.  What I mean by that is that the way admin tasks are performed is vastly different.  So, having it "foist upon you" without your say-so would also be rather annoying.

Having said all that, it DOES seem like they could have created a tool for moving everything over with automation.  It still wouldn't have meant everything worked right away (I've run into one problem with PHP version incompatibilities already), but it would have made things simpler.

*shrugs*  In any case, the move is finished, and the hosting and domain name are paid up for three years now, so I don't have to worry about it.

Re: Woodward Academy, Year 6, The

Thank you... I was actually waiting for someone to complain on this thread, so I could post a link that would point to the OTHER thread, which people should pay attention to.  That is, my writing status thread, which would have told you why there's no chapter here for you to read:

http://www.wolfpub.org/forum/viewtopic. … 112#p11112

Go read that.  And pay attention to that thread in the future.  It gives updates.

Just an FYI - Year 6 is now giving me "Unauthorized Attempt To Access" errors when attempting to access the year's main page.
