Err, this may or may not be helpful in writing the story in the future, but regarding guns in the story, for mages it should be possible to deal with if they just make a thick enough water barrier. I realize you said he 'tried' that in the end of volume 6, but you never said how thick he made that barrier of water (and maybe this post will change that part of the story a bit), though that shouldn't affect how bullet rounds react to hitting a body of water (they decelerate very quickly, the bigger & faster ones shatter on impact). Take a look at this video of what happens in the real world to a rifles bullet hitting water - note, they are shooting into a pool, but that just gives you an idea of how much water is needed for different guns.

I'm well aware of that fact.
And how amazingly would it utterly destroy the entire storyline of the last quarter of the book if I just said, "Oh, we can make the water wall thicker." ?
Let's just assume, so that I don't have to rewrite the ENTIRE REST OF THAT BOOK, that they can't make it thick enough to stop a bullet. Or perhaps, given that the guy firing the weapon is ALSO a wizard, they've done something to the bullet to make it penetrate further, to "make damned sure" the bullet would penetrate the magical shields the assassins already knew about.

Update for January 31, 2017:
WAY7-2 is finished. Keeshaba has it right now. I will give it to the reviewers when she is done with it.
This chapter will be posted LATE on the 1st of February, but it will be posted on the 1st. I need to give the reviewers a chance to make comments (if they can read it that fast), and I will have to proofread it. I don't want to do that tonight, as I didn't sleep well last night, and so am rather tired.
But it will be up tomorrow. Just don't expect to see it in an hour and a half... more likely twenty hours and a half.

Update #2 for January 31, 2017:
The Woodward Academy, Year 7, Chapter 2: July is finished and with the reviewers. This chapter will be posted late tomorrow evening, to give some chance for review, and so I can proofread it before it gets posted.
I will begin WAY7-3... probably the day after tomorrow.

Update for February 1, 2017:
Whew! Made it with 2 hours to spare!
The Woodward Academy, Year 7, Chapter 2: July has been posted to PRM.
The Woodward Academy, Year 6, Chapter 8: January has been made public.
As I said, I will be starting WAY7-3 as soon as possible, to see if I can get ahead.

Update for February 11, 2017:
The Woodward Academy, Year 7, Chapter 3: August has been started.
So much for "getting ahead".
On the up side, I did write over 3,000 words on it...

So, did you succeed in getting ahead?

Not
Even
Close.
In fact, I have no guarantee that I will have WAY7-3 out tomorrow. If I do, it will certainly be later in the day. I've been working very hard at finishing it, and have almost 10,000 words written, but I still have several major scenes to write, and only 2 days to do it (that includes the 1st: I will keep writing until it's finished: if I get it done on the 1st, I'll post it on the 1st.)

Hope you mange to finish on time but if not I won't hold it against you.😆

Thanks for the update - now I'll not wait up hoping to see it till later. May the writing gods look favorably upon you!

The writing gods were doing okay, but GOD-addy decided to fuck me over big time.

Update for February 28, 2017:
Thanks to GoDaddy, there is virtually no chance WAY7-3 will be released tomorrow. A site issue has eaten up about 5 hours of my day, and ALL of my patience. I'm frustrated, angry, and in no mood to be creative.
Perhaps tomorrow will find me in a mood to just blast through the remainder of the chapter. If it happens, it happens. Do NOT expect it.

I think we can wait a few days... Sit down, open a can or bottle of your favorite beverage and relax for a little bit. At least I can wait a little while since I've been rereading the series and I'm only up to year 6.

Thanks to yesterday's nightmare, plus a snafu from my work last night that I had to fix today, PLUS my sinus med kicking my ass (Damn you, Zyrtec!), I did not finish WAY7-3 today. I would expect it to take no more than 2 or 3 more days before being posted.
I do apologize to those who are waiting for it.

Don't get too worked up about that. Just release the chapter when you feel it is ready. You certainly don't have to go out of your way and start neglecting quality in favor of output. At least not on your mainpage. If you really create a sub specifically for me, you can push out anything you want, no matter the quality.

We can be patient. No need to stress btw the sounds you hear arent an angry mob just go back too your tea and crumpets
Seriously tho dont stress we shall live. Albeit impatiently but the wait just makes it better

Just as long as it's this month Eric I will be fine. Going through a ear infection my self so I can empathize with ya.

Hi Eric, not to rush you or anything, but is there any update on how it's going and when can we expect to get our "fix"? I completely understand the issues of creative work, specially when the real world keeps disturbing it, as I do work in a somewhat related and similar field as well. Anyway could you give us a hint how is everything going on?
Offline
A hint... a hint... Okay.
Given Z = number of words when chapter is finished, and A = current number of words written...
A < Z.
I have either 2 or 3 scenes left to write, depending on whether I decide to put the sex scene in or not. This is taking longer than expected because I don't feel particularly well these days. Get it out as soon as I can.

A < Z
Lol.

That's ok Crusader as it's more or less what I wanted to know. Either Eric had already finished and sent it to the editors, or were close to finishing, or still had some way to go. So still some way to go, and best case scenario we may expect the release at the mid, or even end of this following week, if not later.
Wishing you Eric to get better. As I said, I completely understand creative hurdles.
Offline
Oh I wasn't worrying about that, just having A related to Z in a mathematical way when talking about a literary work just made me giggle.

I understand personal life takes priority over us lesser folks getting our fix, but man, I'm getting antsy over here! Makes me wonder how long we will have to wait next month for it. Hope everything gets better. Will continue to wait, as inpatiently as possible.

True. We should all get ready to wait next month. Of course, inspiration may struck Eric and he MAY be able to get the next chapter on time, but real life is full of distractions and problems, so unless he really strikes a strong writing streak, we should prepare for a lot of waiting for the next few months. Even for the skipping of a month. Let's just be thankful that Eric doesn't take his sweet time the way R.R. Martin does. Still waiting for the winds of winter since 2014 (the original ETA for the release of the novel).
