Paladin

Robert Curtis has been blinded, but a new government program gives him his sight back. And a little more than that.

Re: Paladin

I realize that your current stated intent is to finish projects nearest completion, Net... but is it out of line to ask if - since this story is supposed to tie into J7, apparently - Paladin will be one of the next stories completed?

If so, I won't ask. 3dwink

If it is okay, though, consider it asked. (I really thought it had a lot of potential, when I first encountered it, and would love to see it completed. Of course, since y'all ain't in my employ, and I haven't gotten control over everything in the world yet - I can still hope, right? - I don't expect this to mean much to you.)

Re: Paladin

I will say this again, since it hasn't been said recently.  If you want more Paladin episodes to come out more frequently, I need a little help.  I need ideas for:

1. The crime he's investigating
2. Why the police can't handle it, and
3. The "creative punishment".

I should never have started Paladin, because I'm not a good mystery writer.  I just really liked the concept.  So, if you have thoughts about this, contact me through email to discuss it.

Re: Paladin

Suggestions:

1. Organized crime, police corruption, gang wars, high-level government corruption, or (while we're on that track) a secret 'project' by the government to imbue a certain seven youths with a certain set of powers.
2. The crime or immorality is too big for police to fight, or the police are part of it with or without free will
3. Punishment fitting the individual agents of the organization committing the crime (i.e. Paladin kills mad scientist after mad scientist until he reaches the sadistic head of a scientific facility where infants are mutated and tortured until the tormentors find an infant with powers; at which point the punishment can take on several nasty forms.)

Just a thought.

I think I'm losing my formality rather quickly.

Re: Paladin

I should also point out, I suppose, that Paladin Episode 3: Body Count will be the next thing I release.  It's about half finished now, and I'm hoping to have it ready for release next Monday.  (Sorry, couldn't make it for today... it's just taking too long to write.)

Re: Paladin

Great chapter. Must be tough to think up crimes that can be punished acorrdignly. All I can think of is assault, murder, or rape, which you have already done. Maybe the next one could be about drug dealers slipping some kind of addictive drug into the water fountain at school so the kids would get hooked. Paladin could punish them by getting them addicted to the drugs and then cutting them off, then when they are clean doing it all over again... and again and again... well you get the idea. Though I guess that punishment would take some considerable time.

Re: Paladin

Hmm.  Not sure about that particular punishment, unless withdrawal with it is just really freakin' nasty... but I like the idea.  Though since it deals with a school, I wonder if that isn't more of a J7 kind of a thing...  3dsmile

Re: Paladin

Well, it's much easier to get ideas for J7 than it is for this so it would be better suited being used here. And drug withdrawals can be very grueling.

Re: Paladin

And what about the link between J7 and Paladin? It could be possible that something from a J7 problem affects officials in Paladin's range, and a recursive effect could start that requires the work of both teams of heroes.

Re: Paladin

The link between Paladin and Justice Seven will become clear in a later episode... and then VERY clear in Season Two  of J7 and distant episodes of Paladin.

Re: Paladin

Um... probably because Loki hasn't done anything illegal?  (At least, nothing the police department knows about...)

Also, you will recall that Paladin's mandate was for more white-collar victims.  Loki is picking on high school kids and lowlifes, not executives.

Re: Paladin

If that was going to be a part of the story, they'd ALL be a threat to national security.

But let's stop and consider:  If Paladin was trying to track down Loki... how would he do it?  Loki can look like any mammal.  He doesn't even have to look human!  Are you going to interrogate every rat in the subway?

Loki is a very powerful character.  There is no reliable way to track him down unless he makes a really stupid mistake.  Which, arrogant though he is, he's not THAT stupid.  Thus, it would be a story that went nowhere useful.

Excellent story! I could easily work for Mr Curtis, his mindset on Justice resonates well with me.
