This is called InternetAuthoritis. It's a common disease, characterized by a lack of writing output, generally as a result of lack of time, lack of ideas, or lack of enthusiasm.
For most internet authors, writing is a fad, unfortunately. They get a story idea in their head, and they start to write it out, but realize they either don't have the time, the motivation, or the creativity to actually see it through to the end.
Other, more established authors usually disappear because Real Life (TM) - (That bitch)(SM) tends to interfere with something so low on the priority list. They have this insane notion that keeping themselves fed and clothed takes priority.
So, while I have no specific answer about why any particular author isn't writing*, these are the general reasons it happens.

* Except Jefferson. He told me he's not going to release anything until he receives a total of 100,000 emails either begging him to write something, or containing pictures of naked 85-year-old women.

Yeah, I don't visit pages that try to force me to turn off my adblocker. But I saw the headline.

That's not something you ask to an author, specially Eric ...
It won't be surprising if the chapter is delayed now .

Yep. Better come back next year now! ;P

See, shows what you guys know. He's not asking if I've gotten off my ass and finished something. He's asking if the reviewers have gotten off their asses and finished something.
But since you two are so sure I'm going to delay it, I'll set the site up so you can't see it until February.

So that's your dastardly plan to get more donations from me! Get me all hyped up, making me check the site with a VPN, and then I have to pay to get my fix.
In a more philosophical vein, I posit two ideas:
First, a section of a story can never be truly delayed, for it cannot be complete until it is released.
On the opposite side, a section of a story is always delayed, for there must be some gap, no matter how small, between completion and release.
I'm always excited for a new chapter from you Eric, and good stories often take time to write.

That you think that release has ANYTHING to do with the story writing process is reader-centric bullshit.

If you use Firefox, there's a plugin called Send to Outline that works well to get the content of articles behind ad-blocker paywalls.
Just FYI
K
EDIT: Although looking at the headline, I'm not sure getting past the paywall is a great thing in this case.

Stopped using Firefox when they turned into IE2.

On second read, I figure I need to explain that. FF has basically decided that they know better than their users, and they don't seem to give a shit about the people who are supporting them. Just like Microsoft.

The rest of what he said, however, is true. You will get to read more of year 7 when the PRM folks can read more of year 8. Anything else is, in my opinion, unfair
I quote that from the WAY7 thread, because I saw a new release of WAY7 yet no release of WAY8.
Is there a problem somehow with the new chapter?

I am still somewhat new to the threads compared to most, but in the time I have been here Eric has always had 6 months of WAY in the PRM. He also explains why there was an ‘update’ in the WAY7 thread:
Eric Storm wrote:
Chrome has a major flaw in it whereby the calendar cannot be saved properly from my calendar-creation page. I caught it when I did the WAY8 calendar, but missed it with the WAY7 one.
It has now been updated. (I had to use IE to save it. Ick.)

So that's what it was about. Thanks!

I don't mind the wait for the next story. It shows when it shows. The chapter is finished, just stuck with reviewers who are taking their sweet time.

I can't argue against that. I just haven't found any other browser I can tolerate better. I'm a hands-on-keyboard type, so making little things like bookmarks accessible only via mouse is kind of a deal breaker.

Thank you for making my point for me. "You say potato, I say po-tah-to..." But they are the same thing.
