Somehow, I think you have been posting so much just to reach this particular mark. The last time someone did that, I reduced their post count down to like 10...

She's not kidding, either. Last night, my hard drive went POP! *sizzle* poof. I do have a second, which I am having difficulty installing Winblows onto. (I'm currently using an antique laptop, which is barely up to the task of running Firefox, let alone anything else I would do with it...)
$15? $150? $1500? I'll take what I can get.

Its times like this I wish all these random computers and laptops here in the house actually WORKED, or I could salvage something for ya

If they don't work, why are they in the house, instead of the trash?

Many of them do not work cohesively, they are missing parts like motherboards or hard drives or such, but many of the parts work, In fact, I was able to repair my fiancee a laptop from her current one. She had an old dell inspiron, that was pretty much shot to hell. NOTHING was getting this system to stay on more then an hour. So, I looked around the storage closet a bit, found an old dell inspiron, that had everything she needed, and a wifi hookup for a laptop peripheral slot. I was able to fix the laptop in storage with her touchpad and keyboard(after almost having to hacksaw the damn safety lock off) so, now she has a nice, wifi capable laptop with ubuntu on it, that she can sit in bed with and type, and it cost her 5 dollars for pizza and a soda to keep me working durring the night to get it done
I repair, network, and build custom PCs. Ive been doing it long enough to realize that ANY amount of free PC stuff can really freaking help.
*quick example then Im done*
I am building the lovely dame a nice home PC to replace her old one. Its a nice system that she has, but it no longer allows her to do what she needs, I can no longer stand it, and she wants to upgrade from windows 98 to xp(yes, its a tad bit frustrating at times) The thing is, Im doing this at no cost. I was recently donated a PC that is in good condition, that I built about 5 years ago, top of the line. One of the first systems I put Dual core into, and overclocked, and one of the first systems I had to worry about air cooling, heatsinks and the like. Everything is great, the system is up and running, BUT, it has NO hard drive. I cant get an IDE HDD free, and all of the systems I have use a SATAII drive......delima, I cannot build it without costs. Then I was looking back in one of the old cases I had when I noticed a board I had forgot about. An old IDE to SATAII conversion plug that mounts in Lian Li cases. With a bit of help from power tools and a wood block, I was able to mount the board where it plugs in, and she now has a nice SATAII drive in on it.
Proof for me that keeping some of these things is worth it!
