Skyscraper is wrong about publishing without completion, especially if you are charging for it. There must be an ending of sorts even if it is a cliffhanger ending. One needs to be satisfied with what is written to even think about buying the second book. I recently did purchase 2 books there.
I was pleasantly surprised not just with the quality of the writing but also the lack of spelling and grammatical errors. It was a delight. Will I continue, possibly, but I’m not made of money. My suggestion is for every author to find someone willing to read and correct their mistakes. This is why editors and publishers exist.
bistander, if you have taken the time to correct and publish, I commend you. Your “Neighbor’s Incest" is one such story that I have read here more than once. And not knowing that you had published it elsewhere, I downloaded all chapters, corrected most of the errors I could find and then brought it into “calibre" which helped me turn it into an epub which I can now read on my computers and tablet once I save it to Apple’s “Books" .
I look forward for your second book in that series. I am patiently waiting for a satisfying conclusion to Potential.

What? You're not going to tell us how John dies? You're not going to paint the happy ending for all? That's messed up, man!

I think he is just pulling your leg a bit. I guess we have to be patient and hope he doesn’t abandon this site to permanently go income based.
bistander, I’m saddened to hear you altered “My neighbor’s Incest" just to get it published. But I guess you do what you need to do. I think it has to alter the story too much and will not have the same impact to the reader.
Maybe, Eric can establish some kind of “gift" system for the authors to be compensated. Or maybe a link to Paypal with pre-established amount?
I just don’t want authors to leave, just to make a few bucks.

I might not have been clear, but I was joking when I said completion isn't required

The problem with sarcasm in writing is you don’t get the inflection in someone’s speech so it is hard to tell one is joking. When my daughter and I throw these type of comments back and forth we usually end it with LOL. Lets us know it was not a serious comment.

Thank you, Dadrepus, for your support.
I made the mistake with book one of letting the guy who does the work to create an epub go ahead with the publishing before going through it. I didn't really think Bookapy would actually let it be published, so I wasn't that concerned. But that's part of what the guy does for me; he uses some software to make sure there isn't anything that would obviously identify anyone's age if it's below sixteen. Then I was surprised a second time after it got published; people were buying it. I saw one comment mentioning typos, and I was pissed at myself for letting that happen.
I have always encouraged readers to make me aware of errors, but that almost never happens. What I found when I started editing/revising books 1 & 2 horrified me, and kept me up at night. There were typos, words missing, n't and ed missing from words which changed the meaning of sentences. In one chapter in Book 3 (just finished) I found a volley of dialogue where the paragraphs got stuffed together so you could hardly tell who said what.
I'm embarrassed by the quality of Book 1(chapters 1 through 19). When I have time after the whole story is finished, I'll come back and repost all the chapters.
Dadrepus, if I had known you were editing my work already, I might have hired you to help me work on this project. :-) I love to know what kinds of errors you found because that book was also published on Bookapy and I hate the idea of people getting errors.
Yes, everybody, I will finish the story. I would have rather finished it before publishing the books, but I was advised to break the story up into 4 parts and start selling them one at a time. I wouldn't have done it that way, but I never would have considered trying to sell this story. I'm grateful my friend took it on by himself because after Bookapy's cut, and his cut, there are a few bucks that come my way.
Now for the bad news. After spending 8 to 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, for over a month, working on editing and revising the first 200K words, my right shoulder hurt so bad I couldn't do anything. It feels a lot like my left shoulder last year when I had a tear in my rotator cuff, except much worse this time. I can't leave the house--Well, I can leave the house, but I can't come back because I can't get my wheelchair up the ramp. I found that out the hard way, and made my are worse.
I've been doing as little as possible for a couple of weeks, and I see the orthopedic doctor this week. If I end up needing surgery, you would hear from me for at least 6 weeks because I can't even sit up in bed without using both arms. I don't have use of any of my trunk muscles.
Last year, the left arm was made right with a bunch of therapy. Cross your fingers that works for the right arm this time. However, I'd rather not have to do anything because my copay is $25 a pop. Three days a week for two months; that adds up.
Thank you all for your continued patience. I never wanted to be the asshat who took seven years to finish one story.

I appreciated the story. I too would love to know how John Dies and who doesn't want the "Happy Ending" for everyone. Hopefully oyu will take the encouragement and continue writing. This is probably the first story I have read that actually held my attention, developed the characters, had a plot and a few subplots and made me binge read it and then desperately find it here to keep reading. Thank you and for now, Job Well Done.

If you have the chance and ability, drop us a note to see how you are doing. When we have communication from the authors it makes us feel connected, in a good way. Hope you are getting better.

Just finished binging the series and really enjoyed it! I like the emotional aspect of the story. So many times in erotic writing it’s just all about the six and nothing else. Your story has plenty of sex but also has emotional/love connections between the characters. Once again, Really enjoyed reading it and hope you’ll continue to write this series! Thanks!

I just finished part 41 on Nifty and cannot believe you left us hanging like that. Finish killing John and let the family have a joyful orgy fest.

1. Chapter 42 is already posted here.
2. The story is still listed as "In Progress", so I would suggest that the author hasn't left anyone hanging just yet.

When is the next chapter coming out. I am dying to find out what happens to John and the rest of the family. It has been a very good story and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

You are right, I should and do try and make sure I keep the readers up to date. To be honest, I've avoided dropping in because I hate to say that I'm still not done. Really, I haven't done any meaningful writing since March. Yes, I have legitimate reasons for some delays, but it's hard for even me to believe all the shit that has happened in the last 4 years, so I imagine people think, He's just making excuses. There is also the fact that I have had blocks of time when I completely planned on getting started again, yet I couldn't make myself start. Can't put my finger on it, but there has to be a reason I'm finding it so difficult to get back fully engaged in the story. I thought by editing the previous chapters for the publishing I'd be right back in it and would start writing, but that didn't happen.
Maybe it's the pressure of having to nail the ending, maybe I'm dreading having to be so engrossed in the story's emotional dysfunction, or maybe . . . I'm not sure, but I'll figure it out and get the job done.
Thank you for your patience, and thank you if you're not patient but are still waiting.

A piece of advice from my own experience. Your mileage may vary:
I have often faced the case of, "I want to write, but I just can't seem to." The cause of this is, generally, that your brain is not in "writing mode".
Here's the cruel part: The only way to force your mind into writing mode, is to write something.
So... you need to sit down and force yourself to put words down. Write the next scene. Will it be the best scene you've ever written? Probably not, but you can edit it later. But clearly your mind is not, right now, in writing mode. You might be thinking creatively, but you might be stuck in "planning mode", or in "brainstorming mode", and those will NOT help you get words on screen. Your brain needs to be thinking about words and sentences and paragraphs, instead of chapters or sequels or lunch. You can either wait for it to get there whenever it feels like it, or you can try to jump-start the process.
Like I said, this comes from my own experience, and every writer is different, and has a different process. This might not work for you... but does it hurt to try? If worse comes to worst, you will be.. right where you already are.
In any case, that's my 36¢ (inflation).

Considering the day you posted this, I'll consider it my birthday present. Thank you. That's what I need to do. I've tried to write whatever idea was floating in my head, but starting is the hardest part for me, and I'm so out of practice that I quickly get frustrated and give up.
Wanna hear something funny? Too bad, and it's more ironic than funny anyway. I've always compared my writing life to my work life, thinking if I had a manager and paycheck to consider, I'd get the writing done the way I always got my IT projects done. I was handed a gift; someone got my story published with some modifications they made, but the only way for me to make a few more bucks from it was to finish it. Okay, it's not a fortune or even a lot of money to motivate me, but it's still $$$$ that I need now that I don't have a job or extra money in the bank, so why not get the fuckin' work done, bistander? Good question. I'm going to write something now because Eric is correct.
