Smutterton - Not a Bridgeton Parody

Smutterton - Not a Bridgeton Parody

Mayfair is known for it's residency of aristocratic families,
the highest of fashion and the place to be for anyone wanting to find the most lavish balls, elegant ladies or dashing gentlemen.

On the surface Mayfair seems to be the place to be.
Who knows the goings on behind doors of this place.

Re: Smutterton - Not a Bridgeton Parody

I hope you can keep both of these stories going.  I truly enjoy Smutterton and absolutely love Way out West you do an excellent job at writning these stories.

Re: Smutterton - Not a Bridgeton Parody

Interesting start.. but needs a really strong proof reading.  there are a number of wrong words, grammar and punctuation issues.   A lot of these result from the hard line breaks that could be the result of how the document was edited and uploaded.

To the story content, I love a good period drama. and the scene between Ellen and Benjamin was hot.

One suggestion, is given the rich potential of the world you have established, the text could benefit form color text. e,g, descriptions of surroundings. E.g paint us a picture with word.

All in All Good Start

Chapter 1 has been re-edited due to some useful feedback.  Hope this reads better.

Re: Smutterton - Not a Bridgeton Parody

Not sure if you already reposted your edit. Still a LOT of spelling issues, and I'm terrible at spelling.  I'd recommend you run this through a text to speech app. I use NaturalReader for this myself. But most Text to Speech engines will work.. AI based ones work better.

I can also recommend Pro Writing Aid as a great tool for self editing grammar and punctuation. Again no tool is perfect. But I really find in myown writeing that listening to my words read back to me helps me spot a lot of issues. I think you will find the same.

Best Wishs'

PC>> Still going to read this.. the spelling issues do not bother me all that much, I just get a lot of complaints myself so I figure your work is going to drive some of those guys bonkers.

Re: Smutterton - Not a Bridgeton Parody

I am Australian, so we use Australian spelling for some of the words.
My Editor spent several hours helping me rework chapter 1.  She regularly helps university students with grammar in their essays, and they consistently receive top marks.

@humdogma,

Dude I am really not trying to be a dick here. My only intent is to help.

in the above I think you intend "inorder" to be "in order", others like honour, eligable, priviledge socoety, toungue etc...

Anyway.. again your story.. feel free to ignore my comments and I will not further comment on this aspect of your story..

Re: Smutterton - Not a Bridgeton Parody

Oh that said... you taught me a new word... "Ton" I thought that you meant town.. but it's actual Ton e.g. the upper fashionable crust of society.

Re: Smutterton - Not a Bridgeton Parody

I have got a writer of several Bridgerton fan fictions to advise me on the period and how several characters normally interact and behave.
